Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party enter places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
