PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Season-Opening Trophy in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious trophy on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck twice late to take a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the dying moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
